Title : Synthesis and characterization of MgO NPs doped thin PMMA film
Abstract:
Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), a transparent polymer, is used in many applications including lighting, aerospace, biomedicine, electronics. It can be fully recyclable. PMMA are commercially available in granular and powder forms. In spite of its advantages as good transparency, excellent weather resistance and stiffness, PMMA also has deficiency, such as, low impact strength, low thermal conductivity, relatively low glass transition temperature and limited heat resistance. We have synthesized and characterized pure PMMA and MgO doped PMMA nanocomposite thin films by doping MgO NPs in different concentrations of 5 wt%, 10 wt% and 15 wt%. The pure PMMA and MgO doped PMMA films are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and UV-vis-nir spectroscopy. The current work is practically significant for improving PMMA film properties as well as tailoring new properties in it.
