Title : Recent era of smart nanocarrier based drug delivery system for inhibition of azole resistant biofilm forming candida albicans
Abstract:
Recently, the WHO announced the priority list of antibiotic resistant bacteria and fungi based on the healthcare, transmissibility, preventability, hospital dissemination, resistance behavior, formulation of community diseases, high mortality and morbidity. Based on their observation, the azole resistant Candida albicans is the major drug resistant fungi due to the production of plenty of extracellular antigenic matrix material and variety of enzymes production. In particular, the β-glucan and extracellular DNA components are the major factors to promote the biofilm formation with high resistance to multiple antifungal agents. Due to this defect, the scientists are promoted future R&D strategies should focus on the discovery and development of new kind of drug delivery method for inhibiting drug resistant fungi, especially azole resistant Candida albicans. Last few decades, nanotechnology is an efficient platform to design novel drug delivery approaches against various kind of fungal pathogens with biocompatible, biodegradable and safer treatment in biomedical field. Interestingly, the smart nanocarrier systems are promising numerous benefits for drug delivery, and it is the highly demanding research field in biomedical application without making disturbance. The complement nature of high biocompatibility, excellent penetration and entrapment capacity are helped to control release of drugs in targeted sites, and also delivered specific amount of engineered therapeutic drug on the targeted places. More number of successive nanocarriers is frequently used in the biomedical treatment process including liposomes, micelles, dendrimers, carbon nanotubes, quantum dots, aptamers, small molecules, peptides and polymeric materials. Therefore, the current study research is focused on advantages of drugs, antibiotics or bioactive compound intended smart nanocarriers as an efficient drug delivery molecule in target sites of biofilm forming azole resistant Candida albicans.
