M A Shah

Biography:

Prof. Shah, a distinguished Materials Scientists, an eloquent speaker and an academic leader, received Ph.D. in Physics from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. With over 150 SCI-indexed papers, ten books on contemporary areas of nanotechnology, Prof Shah is globally recognized among the top 2% scientists. Member of several scientific academies and societies, Prof Shah has been keen to establish a―Jammu & Kashmir Royal Scientific Society‖. Prof. Shah has played a transformative role in advancing research infrastructure at NIT Srinagar. Established and commissioned the first Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) facility in Jammu & Kashmir, launched postgraduate programs in Physics, and developed advanced Laboratory for Multifunctional Nanomaterials (LMN) through major Nano-Mission projects of Govt of India. Moved proposal to have four years ―Engineering Physics‖ course like other branches in IITS/NITS, Prof Shah has also played pivotal role for additional land of the institute. Founder and Convener of the International Conference on Nanotechnology for Better Living (NBL), organized in collaboration with leading IITs after every two years since 2016, the 10th Edition (NBL-2027) shall be held from 07–11 September 2027 with IIT Madras. He has also led Prime Minister’s INSPIRE Internship Programs, for the bright students of the valley, inspiring thousands of young students and their teachers. Shah has also served abroad, worked with many eminent scientists and had collaboration with many centers of excellence. Dean of Alumni & International Affairs, he founded SANGAM –(Students, Alumni Network for Growth, Aspiration and Mentoring), the summit is Alumni Academic Assembly, strengthening global alumni engagement and fostering academic collaborations with an endowment of Rs 30.00 Lakhs in first phase with deep commitment to education and society.
